Kaiser Permanente Awards $5.2 Million to Endow UCLA Center for Health Equity

Kaiser Permanente has announced a $5.2 million grant to endow the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity. The center, which had been known as the Center to Eliminate Health Disparities, works to improve the health status and care of underserved populations in Los Angeles County.

The grant from the Oakland-based healthcare organization will enable the center to partner with Los Angeles-area organizations in order to conduct innovative research while developing effective programs and strategies to eliminate health disparities in the region. In addition, the grant will support expansion of the center's training and technical assistance services, including the development and dissemination of multilingual, culturally appropriate materials, distance learning programs, and training tools. Established in 2004, the center focus on attracting and training new talent determined to eliminate disparities caused by poverty, lack of insurance, or unhealthy home or work environments.
