Job Description
This position provides the day to day fiscal and contractual management of the 12 federal grants in the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity. These 12 grants total $7,098,841 with $1,423,784 in matching funds that require financial reconciliation of accounts, purchasing, travel, payroll allocations, subcontract monitoring, invoicing and financial reporting. The Grants Specialist is dedicated to the detailed reporting and tracking of grant expenditures. This incumbent manages all financial, administrative, and contractual aspects of federal grant programs from pre-award proposal development through project close-out.


Minimum Qualifications
This Grant Specialist has experience in federal, state and private budgets. This Grants Specialist is detail oriented and has the ability to analyze financial data to detect trends in spending, outliers, and has the ability to proactively identify potential issues to develop a plan to prevent the issues from occurring. This position is able to create financial reports using various financial software packages to include Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word. This position is able to communicate at various levels internal and external to the agency and is able to present financial data to various audiences using Microsoft PowerPoint and any other software.


Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of grants and contracts accounting standards, policies, and procedures; Accounting experience in government and/or university setting; EVa purchasing system; Microsoft Word; Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred and/or equivalent applicable experience or training in handling fiscal responsibilities in a university, local, state or federal setting. Experience working with grants and contracts.
