The Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP) is pleased to announce the release of the FY 2013 Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant Program (announcement number: HRSA-13-153). This one-year grant provides an opportunity for rural communities to bring together key parts of a rural health care delivery system, particularly those entities that may not have collaborated in the past, to work together to establish or improve local capacity and coordination of care. Grantees will use their funds to lay out the foundation of a community health project by convening collaborating partners to conduct planning activities. Grantees may also use the funds to develop and assist healthcare networks establish and/or become operational.
Applicants may propose funds for up to one-year from April 1st, 2013-March 31st, 2014. The maximum award is up to $85,000.

The deadline to submit an application in grants.gov is October 15th, 2012. ORHP strongly recommends that applicants submit their applications prior to the due date to avoid any technological problems. All applications have to be submitted electronically in www.grants.gov
There will be a technical assistance call on September 19th, 2012 (Wednesday) at 2pm eastern time to assist applicants in preparing their applications. The toll-free number to call in is 1-800-779-5383. The Passcode is Network Plan. Please dial in 10 minutes before call is to begin. The leader’s name is Sheila Warren.
The purpose of the call is to go over the grant guidance, and to provide any additional or clarifying information that may be necessary regarding the application process. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the call to answer any questions. While the call is not required, it is highly recommended that anyone who is interested in applying for the Rural Health Network Development Planning Program plan to listen to the call. It is most useful to the applicants when the grant guidance is easily accessible during the call and if questions are written down ahead of time for easy reference.
