FDA SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT

FDA SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON REGULATION OF CIGARETTE ADVERTISING TO MINORITY POPULATIONS

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is soliciting information, research, and ideas to assist the FDA in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities to regulate tobacco product advertising and promotion designed to appeal to specific racial and ethnic minority populations. Public comments are also sought on the advertising and promotion of menthol and other cigarettes to youth in general. The authority to regulate tobacco products was granted to FDA with the 2009 passage of The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, legislation that received strong support from ACPM.

The deadline to submit comments is July 26, 2010. To view the call for public comment please visit http://www.thefederalregister.com/d.p/2010-05-27-2010-12684.
