Workshops for Public Health Professionals


Sponsored by the VCU Department of Epidemiology & Community Health

Registration is now open for three half-day workshops in June for public health professionals! Learn how to use social media to promote public health message, advance your skills in SAS, or broaden your knowledge of health equity.

Date of Workshop & Brief Description

6/11/10 - Introduction to New Media in the Public Health Space
Provides overview of the internet and social media and how to use these tools to promote health.

6/18/10 - Health Equity
Gives an overview of the health equity framework, reviews and engages students in a discussion using the Unnatural Causes video, provides overview of cultural competency and the community-based participatory approach.

6/25/10 - SAS Techniques for Intermediate Users
Provides more advanced data management and statistical analysis techniques for intermediate SAS users, using SAS. Attendees should be comfortable using data in SAS and its basic processes.

All courses will be on the MCV Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Approximate time of each course session is from 9 AM to 1 PM (some minor variation with certain courses). To register, visit TRAIN Virginia at: https://va.train.org/DesktopShell.aspx
