Effective March 1, 2011, our new Health Equity Coordinator began. The position was filled by Collette Frazer!! Collette has worked for the last year with OMHHE as a Program Support Specialist. Collette received a B.A. Health Physical Education and Exercise Science with a concentration in Community Health Education in 2008 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her community outreach work includes testing and counseling patience with communicable diseases (i.e. HIV Prevention) pregnancy prevention and counseling, resource mother for the Richmond City Health Department. She also works in community outreach as a paid volunteer for Minority Health Consortium. Collette says that “Working in the Community Health field is truly a passion and service that she is intrinsically motivated to do. Also she is eager to join VDH in the battle of improving health equity for all Virginians.” Please join me in welcoming Collette as she embarks on her new duties.
