Virginia Medical Interpreting Conference



Virginia Medical Interpreting Conference Oct. 12 at
Mary Washington Healthcare

Fredericksburg, VAMary Washington Healthcare will host the Virginia Medical Interpreting Collaborative Network’s first conference, “Louder Than Words: The Importance of Providing Qualified Language Assistance in Healthcare,”  on Saturday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fick Conference Center on the Mary Washington Hospital campus.  The conference will feature breakout sessions on topics such as “Interpreting in a Behavioral Health Setting” and “What Interpreters Need to Know about Quality Improvement.”

In addition, keynote speakers are Linda Joyce, certification and testing director for the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, and Mara Youdelman, project director of the National Language Access Advocacy Project and managing attorney for the National Health Law Program.
