DIRECTOR for OFFICE OF
MINORITY HEALTH and
HEALTH EQUITY

The Virginia Depart of Health is seeking a Director for the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity.  This position serves as senior policy and medical advisor to the State Health Commissioner regarding the agency's minority health efforts and public health policy. Provides expert medical and programmatic direction to initiatives for special populations including minority, rural and the underserved. Assesses and defines public health problems/issues. Ensures polices, programs and services are designed to result in optimal outcomes and regulatory compliance.  


Must be licensed to practice medicine in Virginia. Extensive knowledge of minority and special population health issues, public health principles and practices, health equity, research and program evaluation, health workforce and education, strategic planning, policy development and legislative analysis. 


Experience supervising staff, project management, team development, budgeting, grants management, formulating public health policy and using various software applications. 


Ability to analyze and define large scale complex problems; mobilize resources; identify diverse solutions; organize and direct a combination of agency functions; interpret scientific research; communicate effectively and maintain effective work relationships.   



MPH and board certification in preventive medicine or related specialty.
