- Global Tobacco Control - Students learn about "the health and economic burden of tobacco use worldwide" and gain an understanding of tobacco addiction, regulation, trade and more.
- Population Change and Public Health - Learn how issues like diversity, population size and reproductive health affect general public health.
- Ethics in Public Health - Topics covered in this class include the right to health care, distribution of resources and health services, health promotion and more.
- Social and Behavioral Aspects of Public Health - This introductory class discusses how attitudes towards health care, as well as social and cultural issues, affect public health policies, health status and poverty.
- Personal Preparedness Planning for Public Health Workers - Public health care workers learn how to respond to acts of terrorism and natural disasters and care for themselves and their families.
- The History of Public Health - Get a history of the public health system in this course.

In partnership with the University of Maryland School of Public Health’s Center for Health Equity, the Collaborative Center for Health Equity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison offers an intensive weeklong “research boot camp” focused on increasing the number of investigators, particularly minority investigators, engaged in health disparities/health equity research that are successful in tenure track academic appointments in schools of public health, medicine and other health and behavioral health science disciplines and help them in achieving research funding through the NIH.

Attention Public Health Students and Alumni!
Take advantage of this exciting opportunity to learn about careers in public health. The Virginia Public Health Association and its partners invite YOU to participate in our 3rd Annual Statewide Career and Internship Fair. You will be exposed to the plentiful professional opportunities in public health as well as recent advancements in health research and development. Registration is free for current students, and is required to reserve your spot.
The program will feature roundtable discussions on:

*Global and domestic public health careers,
*Combined veterinary medicine and human health tracks,

Who Should Attend
The program is designed for current undergraduates interested in careers in public health, MPH students and alumni, though others are welcome to join us as well. There will be a nominal fee for those who are not currently enrolled as students to cover the costs of lunch.

Registration is free for current students. All other individuals, $15 per person.
